Healdsburg
is a town that loves to party. Whether it's lining the streets for a 4-H parade
or showing up en masse for a town picture, you can count on us to bring some
wine, lay down on our favorite blankets, and get down to some serious socializing.
Any weekend is a good excuse to get out in a long time. For that matter, this
picture by Roger Peters was from a weeknight concert in the plaza.
The
plaza has been finished for awhile and the plantings are mellowed in, so you
can lounge in some new spots, or take advantage of the seating at the newly
re-opened Healdsburg Bar and Grill and watch
the activities from across the street. A few steps down from the corner along
Healdsburg Avenue you can duck into the Palette
Art Cafe for some great coffee and tasty art. There's a nicely sheltered
courtyard for meeting friends and taking a shopping break. You can stroll
up Healdsburg Avenue to the new offices of Healdsburg
Sotheby's International Realty at 409 Healdsburg Ave. We're two doors
down from Costeaux French Bakery (reviews),
next door to the Toad Hollow tasting
room on one side with Dovetail
Collection and their beautiful furniture and crafts on the other. It's
a great neighborhood.
Sunday,
May 4 is the 18th Annual Healdsburg Historic Homes Tour. It's a great
chance to see homes that are almost never open to the public. You can pick
up tickets the day of the tour starting at 12:45 pm. As a fringe benefit,
you can also come by and see me holding an open house at 401 Matheson, an
1895 Victorian just waiting for a new owner. The Victorian has two duplexes
and a studio at the back of the very deep lot. It's an interesting opportunity
to purchase with friends as a TIC (tenant in common) ownership, live in the
main house and rent the back units, or expand the main home and remove the
excess units. It's worth a look if you like classic Victorians that still
maintain much of their original charm.
I put together a little show about nine places around the Healdsburg plaza where you can grab some food. A few are a half block or so off the plaza, and there are many more I didn't have room to include.
